Vimeo to launche massive updates: desktop uploader, larger videos, advanced stats

Vimeo – the preferred online video hosting service of Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor – has announced a number of updates. We picked out the two most important ones:
Vimeo plans to give its users the ability to use an Adobe AIR desktop tool to upload videos to the service. The videos uploaded this way will also play in a larger video player. The desktop uploader also allows Vimeo users to upload multiple videos at the same time. And good to see, they also found a way around browser time-outs. And to complete set users will be able to pause and resume uploads later on. The desktop uploader will be available in the next few days (request your access here).
Next to that Vimeo wants to introduce a more advanced stats package, most of these will only be accessible for users who have a paid account though. Included is data about likes and plays, referrer data, HD vs. SD plays, loads and finishes, as well as information about how often a video was shared and downloaded. The advanced stats would be launched “before the end of the year.”

Below is the current Vimeo Plus tutorial, available for $59,99 a year.
